can I bring a Demand Draft in US dollars instead of Canadian dollars

Sir,
I would be visiting Toronto for 4 weeks to collect my PR cards. I am required to show CD 18,000 as proof of fund. Please guide me if it will be ok to bring a D/D of US $ 16,000 instead of CD, as this will save me from conversion losses, keeping in mind that I do not have to deposit use these funds in bank account.
