Dear CD’s

I got an offer from Canadian IT Company and it is a full time position in Toronto. Since the company wants me to join as soon as I can they are processing my visa under “Software Pilot Program”. The company said I could apply for permanent resident status once I join company with “temporary visa” which would be valid for a year.

I have some questions regarding the same. I suffered from pulmonary TB almost 15 years back; right now I am perfectly all right. I come under M2 category for medical check up purpose (person to kept under medical surveillance) I guess. I have not undergone medical tests for visa purposes yet. To what extent this medical history is going to affect me getting “Permanent resident” status once I land in Canada. Are there any chances of this jeopardizing me getting “Permanent resident” status? Please let me know. If with this medical history it is impossible to get PR or citizen status I will turndown the offer and continue working here in India. So please let me know if anybody has come across the same situation.

I already talked to immigration specialists but they gave “may be, could be” answers. I unnecessarily wasted money on that.

Thanks in advance for your invlauable advice,

Unfortunately, the reality is that I don't think anybody can give you a definitive answer. (unless someone went through the exact same circumstances). I think most lawyers/consultants will expect you to apply and then just wait to see what happens.
The market in India is hot so if you are really interested in giving Canada a shot, I do not see any harm in trying. However everyone's situation is unique so I certainly cannot make that determination about whether you should risk it.

Also, I am not sure if this question might come up even for issuing your temporary visa( I am not too familiar with that though).

Go ahead with your medicals. Do not hide your past medical history it can be detected. You will not be turned down on this medical history. It may be delayed a bit. Same applies to getting PR. You will have same chance as anyone else. ALL THE BEST.

I had similar situation and now I am a Canadian Citizen!!

Don't worry it will delay your immigration process by 3-4 months. They might ask you for sputum test while you are in India.

TB can't be hidden as it will leave permenant marks on your lungs those are clearly visible in the x-ray.

Best of Luck!

Dear CD's

I would like to thank you for all your valuale inforamtion and feedback. on the form I have already mentioned that I dont have any medical issues as my company was filling for immigration. Is it ok if I tell the truth to doctor during medical tests please let me know. There is no way I can rectify my error that I did while filling out the papers as my company has already filed the papers.

once again thank you all for your invaluable help.

Evenif you don't tell the Doctor he will know it. Why you need to hide anything? If your papers are already filed and you didn't mentioned any medical history, may be you can take an approach that you don't know what you were treated for :)
