jago desi,
A US Green Card holder can not sponsor Parents

You are right most of the immigrants wanting to move from US to Canada wish to do so because of the long, uncertain and frustrating process of obtaining GC.
In my case (though it may be a one off) I have lived in these United States since the past 14 yes and still dont have green card. I came here when I was 19 and am now 33. I spent 5 yrs getting my BS, 2 yrs getting my masters MBA and the last 6 yrs working and paying taxes and I am still stuck in this stupid labor certification process.
I have been promoted twice since I joined my company and am now in a Managerial promotion. I can get exact same job with my company in Toronto.......so its a tough decision. I am getting tired of the delay and insecurity though I can keep getting H1 1 yr extensions.
To make matters more complicated my parents and sister are also here now but they have GC. Me and my wife are the only ones in our fly without GC.

Another eason why I selected this criteria for ppts who should reply is because I truely belive it will be much more easier for someone who meets the above criteria to get a good professional job in Canada than a direct immigrant from India, or Gulf etc.

I have also seen direct immigrants (especially those over 35) with say BCOM or BA degree from India struggling to find a good job in USA. Yes USA has more jobs but you require good communication and marketable skills here too.
Thanks guys for replying.

Thanks BL & texancanadian

I feel that only the complicated or no process of US accepting immigrants is the reason for people to immigrate from US to Canada. Irony of the situation is that people move from Canada to US looking for decent job decpite of having PR status. I believe after spending 4 years, that is citizenship period person pick up lot of north american speach and culture which may help to adjust in US early.

I don't really see any irony in that. People have a choice and they make the choice that works best for them.

I would venture to say that the percentage of people who come to Canada and get citizenship and then move to the states is very small. This is not out of any stats that I got from somewhere, its just from personal experience with friends and acquaintances.

I agree with you because small percentage of people have family in US to help them reastablish fast. Although if any stats is available non of the govt. would like to publish.
In other thread topic related to teacher's, I was surprised to read that a BSc Early Childhood Educator(ECE) can teach in a school in US that is true for India too but ECE in Canada is fit for daycare alone. If you are not aware ECE is basically to teach KG student using play way method. In Canada they convert ECE in a baby sitting job. It is irony situation in my opinion.

Very good topic, and mostly answers I wanted to hear! Thanks guys. I too am in the same boat, having lived in the US and coming to Canada within the next 2 months. I may not qualify to answer all these questions since I haven't worked in Canada yet (made a landing last September and returned).

Have had enough tension and feeling insecure in US on a H1B, especially every time we go to India on a vacation and return. My wife has also been complaining about not being able to work or do anything useful with her H4.

We really look forward to starting out a new life in Canada, even if it means taking a bit of a cut in the pay to start with. The cold weather or snowstorms aren't going to stop us from coming in March! (There is a snowstorm here as I write!)

I know this is off topic but since jagodesi brought it up ...............

Please dont confuse ECE with KG training or montessori training which is given in India. In India the 2 above courses are done after SSC or HSC (Ie 10th or 12th).
In US BEd is not a reqt to teach - that is right, but what is compulsary is to pass teachers certification exam of each state. To be certified as a teacher you must have the equivalency o a US college degree ie 16 yrs of education your 3 yr BA, BCOM, BSC in india wont cut it... you would need additional education. The teacher training at a college or center also takes 9 months.

Dear,
In India, ECE = BSc (Child Development) it is a full time 3 years post secondary course. This course is credited 100% in US. University offering these courses are 100% recognised in US. So you dont confuse it as correspondance monterssori education. If you care to pick up course content it uses word ECE to describe various subjects of this course. Ontario partialy recognises this degree (80%) of it. They require to take few subjects related to ontario standards!!!! BUT there is no provision to appear for teachers exam to be able to teach at KG level. For that BEd is required.
No confusion at my end regarding ECE and montessori trainning. I know what I am talking about.
