My mother has landed in US as a "green card holder",, however her "green card" is not yet with her,
She has landed in Canada on the basis of the "green card holder stamp in her passport
she was granted only 1 mth visa at the airport, how can I apply for her extension of visa stay with me in Canada.
I am expecting her " green Card" in next 4-8 weeks time

Please guide me as to how shall I go about applying her PR status eventually

1. For extending your mother's visitor visa, you need to apply to CIC at Vegreville, for an extension as soon as possible. The current processing time is about 52 working days. However, she can stay in Canada, legally while her application is under process. Please make sure that you send the application by registered post so that you have a proof that you have sent the application. the relevant form is : Application to Change Conditions, Extend My Stay, or Remain in Canada [IMM 1249]

2. Regarding sponsoring her for permanent residence, irrespective of whether she is in USA or in Canada, you need to file the sponsorship application at CPC, Mississauga, subject to your meeting the sponsorship eligibilty. The current processing time at CPC Mississauga is 25 months.
