Hello,
I posted this query under 'Family Class', but got no response. Hopefully I will be able to get some help here.
I am a Canadian citizen. I applied to sponsor my spouse (who is in US on an H1 visa) for Canadian immigration in Dec 2003. In Feb 2004, I was approved as a sponsor, & my spouse's PR application was transferred to Buffalo for further processing. In October 2004, we received a letter stating that his application was approved, & asking us for his passport to be mailed to Buffalo. But the letter also stated that if there had been any changes in the details we provided since applying in Dec 2003, then we should first inform them of the changes & then wait to hear back from them about when to send the passport. We had two changes - one was change in address of residence, the other was change in his passport details (his earlier passport had expired in August 2004 & he had got a new one). We informed them of these changes immediately, but have not heard back from them since then. How long does it usually take in such cases to hear back from the visa office?
Also, my spouse's medical results are dated Dec 15, 2003. So, if these results are only valid for a year, the validity will expire in a day. Will he have to do the medical again & if so, how long will those results be valid?
Thank you very much for taking the time to answer my query.
Also, if anyone else has dealt with a similar situation, kindly share any helpful info. Thanks.
This situation is annoying. It should not have gone beyond 15/Dec. Unfortunately, the medicals will expire.
Spousal applications are given the highest priority and the officer may MAY have issued the visa by the 15th and not requested the passport yet.
Write to them.

Much thanks for your response, Mr. Massood.
After informing the Buffalo office of our change in address & change in my spouse's passport details in October 2004, we have sent them 4 follow-up letters (through fax & mail) since then. However, we have yet to hear back from them.
At this point, I'd like to know if hiring a lawyer can help us in any way. Kindly give advice on what can/should be done to get the process moving.
Thank you very much.
A lawyer can always threaten court action and remind the embassy of its responsibilities and priorities under the law.
