your cost of living here is

$1000 Rent (Minimum)
$ 200 Utilities (like phone & Cable)
$ 250 Kids Education saving (you must save from now for your kid or
else forget about their future)
$ 200 Monthly transportation cost (if you don't keep on car )
$ 200 Grocery bill ( do not dare to go to any restaurant)
---------
1850 (Required to qualify as Canadian Desi living standard)

You ear every month 8 * 160 (hrs in best deal ) = 1,220 (Gross )
Now pay around 20 % tax for this income what ever left you have to live in it.

Add $ 225 - Child Care Benefit
$ 70 - GST & PST Refund
$1000 - Spouse Income (thru some labour)

Total house hold income will be $2300, I feel it will be more than that by $500. But, labour should not scare you.
If you want to save couple of bucks, stay in sharing appartment, your rent will come down by 50%. In my opnion to live decently, have your own appartment and don't worry about money. For Indians it keeps coming in.

i appreciate your decisive attitude, persons like u with a positive attitude and vision helps other indecisive and confused people to take decision. my thoughts are quite simmilar to yours,but im bit confused in nature too.
your words have given me strength to think about my son who is only 11 yrs old, and i want him to live his life in clean and healthy environment, where he is not made to struggle for everything.
I see kids suffering here everywhere, we make them to go into unhealthy and dirty competetions in the schools and colleges,despite knowing that we are simply pressurising them and and making education so boring and rotten. We give them all this deliberately. Its very painful to see young students commiting sucides due to pressures.
Examinations make them shiver with fright, as if they are visiting a haunted castles. Is this the childhood they are enjoying. A child of nursery is tortured meantally to learn the topics beyond his capacity and his age.We know that by doing this we are affecting his mental as well as physical growth. We force a child to carry his school bag double then his own body weight.We send our kids in overcrowded auto rikshaws ,drivers make them hang outside, risking his life.Is'nt it sickening?
I decided that if i get visa ill do whatever i can to for my son,my wife,my parents even if im mad to to work for 20 hours. I have a computer education bussiness here and donig fine too, my wife is a teacher and earning good salary. But still i..........

We landed in Canada together in 2003 and then we took the toughest decision in our life that I stay with my 2 year old daughter here to get the Cititizenship. My husband who has a plum job in aviation as pilot and my 7 year old son went back.

I stay here with my brother who migrated 6 months earlier to me with his wife. I managed to get a (job in administration 3 months of landing

We both agree that a lot has been/will be lost in these 3 years which cannot be measured in terms of money. Since 1.5 years has already gone I am in a perfect dilemma whether I should continue the remaining term of 1.5 years.

I hope in the end it is worth all my effort and sacrifices.

VJ
I congratulate you for such a nice article and also for sharing your decision making process with us.
I am sure your strong reason, vision and attitude will make the problems look very small and you will be successful. Its just a matter of time.
IT IS ALWAYS DIFFICULT BEFORE IT IS EASY - thats how a postitive person thinks.

All the best!

Yes, and have you ever thought what your kids are losing / have lost in these years? We as adults can compromise a lot more, but kids can't. Your daughter will never be two years old for your husband again in life and your son will never be 7 years old again for you.
What do you benefit from citizenship, if only half of the family has it? The other half will also have to spend their share of time to earn it, why not spend it together.
You are a brave mother, and your kids have a strong father, but your kids are not so, and they need both of you!
Time passes and waits for no-one!
Anyway its your personal / family decision to bear this sacrifice, I had these questions in my mind which I would ask myself b4 taking such a step.

Only spouse (husband in this case) gets disqualified for citizenship. Both children will get citizenship, they stay in canada or not because one of the parent is qualifying for the citizenship. Number of days stay for citizenshipt does not apply to children. In this case boy outside canada but a PR will qualify for citizenship when mother applies for her citizenship.
