It was a confrontation between an "aggressive remark" passed by a nerd who belongs to minority and brought disrepute to his country and an equally aggressive behavior shown by a world class player who "should have" restrained from retaliating and passed the matter to higher authorities.
There are aggressive elements in both communities, but let those elements stay as individual elements instead of calling them gangs.
Here the Canada desi Gang includes Indians and Pakistanis and everyone is trying to support each other in what ever way possible, and I don't think we go answering queries by looking at the location of the member.
I hope this sets the record straight.
I've never heard of Indo-Pak gangs here in Toronto and I'm pretty sure they don't exist. I'm not saying that Indian/Pakistani youth have never clashed with eachother on Gerrard, but that's hardly a "gang".
I think that on an individual basis, there are really no issues between Indians and Pakistanis. I too work with a couple of guys from Pak. and they're as fun to work with as Indians. And its plain to see that others on the forum who've worked with their cross-country counterparts have had the same feelings.
And I do believe that most people who migrate here from those two countries are rather tolerant and educated. The REAL problem is that desis from both countries are highly emotional people who'll disown their education and balance in a matter of seconds when their underlying prejudices are instigated. e.g. if there's 10 Indians and 10 Pakistanis standing close to eachother in a group, I would bet there's about 8 Indians and 8 Pakistanis who're very reasoable and sensible people. But if one of two idiots from one side screams an obscenity to the other side and an idiot from the other side responds, everyone with get caught up in the fray in a matter of seconds. At that point, edcuation or reason does not matter, everyone's subcounciuos grudges surface right away. And there you have a conflict that was totally unncessary and uncalled for.
There are very few who can rise above these instigations and learn to ignore the rogue elements of either side. I think both communities need to do a lot of work to get rid of this inherent mistrust, then there will be true peace between them. And in the least, they should not perpetuate their grudges to their kids.
We have the advantage here of being in a neutral zone which should help us see how the fighting over there is perpetuated by greedy politicans and religous zealots (from both sides). Instead of letting these pointless conflicts sway us, wouldn't it be smarter to learn from the situation there and educate our kids on what pitfalls to avoid?
I might add CanadianDesi is (and can be) a great step in that direction...

It is not good to know that the Punjabi Gangs do exisits in BC.
What is motive of such gangs?
In India it used to be a "Hafta Vasuli". What is it here?

A Proud Indian Canadian
hi garvo
i am from punjab and i tell u that punjabi gangs in india never fight for or do "Hafta Vasuli" and neither they usually crash for money the 2 thing they fight for is there respect and mother land.
they can do anything for these 2 thing and can cross any limit cauz punjab is religions as well as a rich state so money is never a big prob for anyone living here from begining like JATTS but afcourse there are poor people as well here as in other parts of india but an average people overcomes them as they are more in no.
so "Hafta Vasuli". sought of thing in punjab is considered cheap ........ very cheap and people are strong enough to overcome these small problems and we should not forget PUNJAB POLICE.
so whatever the reason in canada, i guess its not "Hafta Vasuli"?
