I beg to differ on this as my two of my friend's son / daughter did IB program and they got credits for their IB courses in the university . It seems that your school principal did not explain properly or had an outdated knowledge.

Following are the links to few universities which confirm that Universities do give credits to IB program subject to students have received High-level grade in the IB courses and also how much credits students will get depend on courses and universities.

is kids are eligible to get any credits for university if he is in AP Program?
