Hi! Guys

I had come across site of CIM. As per the information available on website it is supposed to be one of the oldest and reputed associations of Canada imparting professional designations of Certified in Management/P.Mgr./F.CIM.

I want to know the acceptability of these designations in the canadian job market.These designations relates to Marketing & Management field.

Can anyone guide me on this.

Canadian job market is peculiar. The govt lets to immigrate based on your designations in your home country. However, Canadian job market does not give a damn about your designations obtained outside of Canada (to an extent even if they are from their daddy USA).

However, if you have any designations from Canada, that is immediately recognised - even if you picked it up by appearing for a test one fine morning when you had nothing better to do!

For an immigrant, what counts more in job market is not your past experience or overseas designations - but your "Canadian Experience" (which by the way does not only mean technical experience in your field of specializations - but more of finer things like the way you express yourself, you behave in a group, and overall get to know how the Canadians live and work) Once you land in Canada, not only a lot of relearning is required, but also a hell of a lot of DE- learning is needed.

In Canada, there is an institute called Seneca College - which at best can be compared with our ITI's (not IITs) - ony thing is here they offer all kinds of courses - technical, commercial, managerial, finance, tax, hobby, etc. etc. That designation is well recognised here.

So in short, CIM is definitely well recongnized - only thing is getting into such professional institute is usually a cumbersome process for an immigrant, specially if he/she does not have enough documentary records and good connections at university from where that person passed in home country, because many a times, they need direct confirmations from the university about your status.
