I am a software consultant working in California on H1B visa. I am planning to migrate to Canada but i am a few points short of the required score of 75. Can anyone tell me how can i find a job in Canada so that it helps me reach the required score? How open are canadian employers about hiring foreign workers? A list (or pointer) of such employers would be highly appreciated. Thank for your help.

Immigration experts are better to answer your question. Our resident immigration expert Massood is away for a while.

It is difficult to give a job to foriegn when there is 8 percent unemployment rate. May be you can try other provinces like Manitoba where people can give your employment letter - there are few consultants doing this.

You might come across consultants from Toronto offering job letter - but be cautious - they might be fake. I am not saying that all are fake - but just check before paying anything.

How come you stop at 75? Have you considered your wife's 3 or 4 or 5 points?

Garvo has given enough info. I only have this to add:
BE VERY CAREFUL OF SHARKS WHO ARE PREYING ON PEOPLE WHO ARE A FEW POINTS SHORT BY PROMISING ARRANGED EMPLOYMENT IN CANADA.

The job validation process is very stringent and in this period of low in the IT sector, i don't see HRDC [Human Resources Development Canada] (our employment department) validating job offers so easily ... unless you have excellent and unique credentials.
