Generally we call a local independent contractor for small renovations taking few hrs to a day or 2. for example installing doors, flooring or basement renovations.
The signing of any kind of MoU or contract is not felt necessary, not pressed upon by both parties and we start work on mutual understanding.
In such scenario , while working at your home , if the contractor gets injured, who is liable for injuries, medical bills and hospitalisation ? As a home owner what is your responsibility considering he got injured using his own equipment.
You!!!!
That is why insurance bonded contrators should be hired.

I do not think its your liability because he is an independent contractor not your employee...also he was using his own tools not yours...
Apart from that you didnt hire him for longer period of time....i assume so..
Thanks guys, Appreciate it !
