When it became clear that the British were in a mood to wind up,Gandhi had lost his relevance. He was probably being used by Motilal (till he was alive) to promote and ensure that his own Eton and Cambridge educated son came to the throne. It was the Nehru/Mountbatten combine which became powerful. Voices of Gandhi and Patel that the sub-continent should not be partitioned did not have takers. Patel was also getting old and did not have the ambition like Nehru. All the Congressmen, as politicians, hung around Delhi on Aug 15, to taste power. But Gandhi was far away at Naokhali. Gandhi's only mistake might have been to favor Nehru ahead of Patel. It was Nehru's ambition, greed and urgency to taste power that might have led to Partition.
To call Gandhi "main culprit" is sacrilege. That he is innocent can be borne by the fact that no Fatwa or call for their head like that of Salman Rushdie's will be issued against anybody if he call him names. But, God Almighty will have His own way. Gandhi did not want anyone to call him Mahatma. He can take this and much more. That is why he is a Mahatma.

Gandhi was a Mahatma for doing what?For letting millions of Hindus die in the hands of butchers and threatening with fasting if Hindus retaliated?For insisting that India pay alimony to Pakistan even when pakistan were attackingIndia?Millions of people were slaughtered -he used fasting as a way to blackmail people into agreeing to his brand of politics much like a 3 year old would cry and make fuss if he does not get his favorite toy.Gandhi brought a new angle to freedom struggle and can be given credit for that but to call him a Mahatma ignoring all others who actually laid their lives for the country is blasephemous for me.

What price are you paying for the partittion !!!!! You should be thankfull that partition happened. Can you imagine the situation if there was no partition. Ajmal Kasab would not have to cross any border .... he would have been living next door to you.
If Mahatama Gandhi was responsible for partition, i thank his seven generations for that ...... Looking across the border i am thankfull that it is not part of India !!!!

He was against violence and that is the reason today hindus are safe and people who were responsible for violence are killing each other .........

Today USA has brought a resolution against Sri Lanka and end of the day the blame will land on Rajapakshe who is the President.
May be MG was assassinated for this INACTION ?.

If India and Pakistan were together the problem wouldn't be so bad. If Pakistan was part of India then the Hindus in Pakistan would have stayed there and flourished and more migration of people would have happened. Punjab in Pakistan would have grown further along with Indian Punjab and we would be a more powerful opponent to China.
Why does terrorism happen ?.
When kids do not opportunity to get ahead by education, jobs and economically they tend to get into these kind of issues. If todays Pakistan government says economic progress is our goal and the border between India and Pakistan opens up you'll economic exchange happening and next thing you'll see education improving and once that happens people will get ahead economically and terrorism will reduce.
Yes we will have problems from Afghanistan border but rest of Pakistan will develop economically. This is good for India. I'll guarantee to you that Mukesh Bhai will invest so heavily on Pakistani side that the Iranian pipe line will flow without hitch.
Nothing smells and feels beautiful like a currency note.
If you see Pakistans population is slightly more than UP. It is like having one moe state.
If you remember your high school chemistry where you learn osmosis across a membrane you would learnt that eventually concentration will reach equillibirium on both the sides.
That will be the greatest leveler. ICANN guarantee today if India offers citizenship to pakistanis half of the country will reach our shores like Bangladesh.
