Hi,
Is it worth from some one in late 30s living in Bangalore, making 12 lakhs per annum as a Delivery manager in top tier (Indian) IT company to consider moving to Canada. His wife is a housewife who takes care of 7 & 3 year old boys.
He owns the apartment in bangalore where he lives, and on top it, he appears to have networth of close to a million dollar in India through the real estate assets.
My suggestion was "Not worth it", but I have a feeling they didn't like my opinion and think I am stopping them to enjoy what I enjoy ( Its natural I don't speak about the issues we face but good things about Canada only, I think I spoke much about multi cultural, free schools, EI, CPP, child tax benefits, maternity leave etc., etc., ). I asked him to pursue USA or Midddle east just if you want to escape some time from India.
Thought I will discuss in the forum. For some reason I didn't share the name of this site...

If he do not have any personal problems which haunts him then it is not the best of decisions to move.
Finding a job in USA is relatively but immigration process is difficult to go through and finding a job is difficult in Canada but immigration process is relatively easy. So, if he could find a job in Canada I would suggest him to go to Canada.
There should be a reason for this kid of people willing to let go all they have at hand and migrate to different countries.
From my personal point of view
12 Lakh/ annum, million dollar assets will take 'em any day.
But again, there should be a strong reason for immigrating leaving all those behind.

What was his stated reason to consider moving out of India? In other words, did he have a reason for himself instead of what you might have told him and possibly influenced him?
If he doesn't have a well thought out reason, I think he has everything he needs and should stay put.

I think he got eventually influenced by friends like us ( though there are issues in both US and Canada, I didn't want to bring them up unless asked). I told him to draw two columns of good and not good things and digest the differences he comes up.
Having lived in North America more than 14 years, personally, I don't see any un-manageable problems in both US and Canada, hence I didn't want to highlight anything other than nostalgia ( answering to Meghal).
I know the reservation system and corruption would be a great killer when it comes to India. I didn't want to list problems of India (crime, skyrocketing inflation, road rage, hospitals etc., etc., ) to some one who has been living there and may continue to live there.. If I am on his side, I wouldn't like any one living in different country to list all the complaints, it would hurt.
Every time I visit India, I enjoy my trip. I know any exception would be too difficult to handle. eg., kids traveling in our lap could be one simple case where it could turn devastating in case of mid-level accident where people often survive, you know what happens to kids in lap in even minor accidents. This is just one example but there are way too many including stray dogs in street with rabis, excavations in streets ( electricity / telephone holes), safety standards in multi-story buildings... Phhhhh.... let me stop here..

Currently IT people are not eligible to apply for immigration to Canada. Under what category does he plan to immigrate?
