I wanted to add something additional for the OP and all others who are job searching. I've been meaning to do this earlier.

Its very good to connect with temp agencies as one resource when looking for a job. its also a very good idea to continue to source out possible jobs from networks and personal contacts. If you belong to a regulated profession (one which will have a provincial association or licencing requirements) then contact your association to get job leads and other help.

However it is also very important to either contact one of these employment resource centres or to read books on career management/job search techniques. Why? This is because at some point, you may want to change jobs, move forward in your career, get laid off etc. It is helpful to have the tools and information that you need in order to begin looking for suitable job options.

The first and most important thing is a resume. In my experience this is where most job seekers have trouble. Not spell checking, not checking grammer, using multiple fonts in the resume and other related mistakes. If you are not getting calls for interviews double check your resume and cover letter. Get someone else to review it.

Secondly, please ensure you have a cell phone # with a professional sounding voice recording. Do not use children's voices or cutesy messages. If you have to use a house phone number DO NOT allow your children to answer the phone if you are expecting an employer to call during business hours.

You will be surprised how many times I have encountered this.
