Hi friends,
Can you please suggest on most exciting things to do while in quebec?
White water rafting interests me, is this possible near the old city?
Other than that worth seeing and not to miss type of places ,
All depends on the individuals taste ofcourse, Our family has no young kids, all adults, pls share your experiences.

Blue peafowl, thanks for your link, that did help me narrow down to some choices.

I went last summer with my wife and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.

We stayed here.

Hôtel Beau site et Manoir de la Terrasse
4 et 8, rue de la Porte
Toll Free: 1-800-363-0036

It's small, but not expensive, and is clean. It's very close to Chateau Frontenac and everything is close enough to walk.

2 things to not miss are the Free Cirque du Soleil show that happens underneath the highway. The other is the Mural show that is displayed against the wall of a building at the Port lands.

If have any questions, let me know. Things are still fresh in my mind. =)

What long weekend? You mean 1st July?
With Montreal hotels, try and stay in downtown if you can.
There are many hotels on Rene Levesque, esp. between University and Bell Centre.

The other option is to stay in old Montreal.
There are many hotels there as well, but slightly expensive than downtown.
Downtown to old Montreal is about a 20 min. walk or a 5 - 7 min. cab ride.
Most of the attractions are in Old Montreal & downtown.
The Olympic Park & nature centre are out of town.

There is another cluster of hotels around the airport, but you are looking at at least a 30 min. ride to downtown, more during rush hrs.

We went to Montreal prior to driving to Quebec City last summer.

Any hotel in the downtown core will be sufficient and close to everything.

You might be able to catch the fireworks show on the portlands: http://www.internationaldesfeuxloto-quebec.com/en/programmation/calendrier.aspx

A 3-day public transit subway/bus pass is available and I would highly recommend it if you want to see everything.

Don't forget to see Mont-Royal, shopping on rue St. Catherine, and St. Hubert's chicken is delicious. :)
