If the lawyer did not sign a specific transfer, I think, it is not assumed automatically. Please call your lawyer and confirm.

thanks Pratickm and Hiren for suggestion and advice.

I confirmed with Offer letter and lawyer it shows all the rental equipments will be transfer to new owner as per agreement.

today i called again to Reliance and they told me previous owner had a protection plan as well. Like right now they cover Water heater rental + ingorund heating for $30.59 / month plus $14.59 / month for AC protection plan like parts + service if anything go wrong with AC,

more it looks like Insurance premium which you paid to them.

They told me if i want to purchase Water heater tank than cost would be $960+ HST = $1084.80. + for service call in future will cost $99 per visit.

when i told them that i got a offer from Direct Energy for $14.99 / month than they offered me if i do contract with them for 1 year than they can waive off Activation fee $35 + one month free ($30.59) total saving of $65.

I did calculate on my way if i go with purchase would cost me $1084.80 in one shot and which i can cover up the cost around after 2.75 year.

I checked with RONA, home depot new heater will cost me around $500 to $700 + taxes + Installation + cancellation charges from existing company, etc...

totally confused what to do with situation whether i buy it on this price or just rent for a now........

Any expert opinion will help me a lot.

Thanks

By now :
You must have understood why I stated to stay away from Reliance .
1. PV Wh should not cost you over 20 $ / mnth . Call DE for ref.
2. Do not buy new WH as they break more often due to sensitive sensors on them and a single repair will cost you around $ 500 .
3. No protection plan is required for the appliances that are not even 5 yrs old .
4. Ask Reliance what will be charges if you disconnect and leave the Wh at their depot yourself .

OK, so now these guys are taking you for a ride.
Whether a monthly rental of $24 or $30 or whatever is correct or not depends on many factors like the type of water heater, etc. as others have said.
But some of the things that they told you this time are just plain rip off.
A 5 year old water heater should not require a protection plan.
If the water heater is rented from them for 10 years, it should automatically include warranty and repairs (non wear and tear).
They should not be tagging on a maintenance plan on top of the rental.

The A/C should not require a maintenance plan, either, esp. a 5 year old unit.
The A/C is completely unrelated to water heater and there's no reason to have that contract with Reliance.

Secondly, whether you buy-out or rent should not affect the warranty and service.
Even if you buy-out, they should still offer the repair and service.
In fact, buy-out is better for them because they get all the money at one shot.

Thirdly, if you sign a 1 year contract with them, where's the activation fee to be waived off?
That $35 doesn't exist.
They already have your account, so where's the activation fee.

There's another thing that doesn't add up here:
If the current principal balance on your equipment is $960 and 5 years remain on the contract and you are paying $30.59 a month, they are charging you 30% interest per annum.
Is that true?
Does your contract state the interest %?

At this time, I suggest, if you can get the exact figures from Reliance on what the effective interest rate is and what the penalty is, then shop around with other known providers like Direct Energy.

For AshwaniG

if i want to cancel the contract than i have to pay Reliance $290 for cancellation ( $125 for removal tank + $125 for transportation charges + $40 cancellation fees)

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hi CD's

I called again them and they offer me now if i do the contract with them for 1 year than they can give me 2 months free and reduced from $30.59 / month to $28.95 / month. as she told me that i have PVR - 50 - 80 system which is good and blahh....blah......

I told her if you give me a good deal like 3 months free and $23.99/ month than i can go with contract otherwise forget it. She told me we can't do it and if i want to cancel the contract than i have to pay Reliance $290 for cancellation ( $125 for removal tank + $125 for transportation charges + $40 cancellation fees)

I told her i didn't sign any contract with you guys so i am not going to pay anything do whatever you want?

Meanwhile i am enquiring in market for another company any suggestion for good company?

I didn't told her over the phone to go ahead and cancel but just for my knowledge in worst case,

what is my option if they go legally and send me a notice or invoice of cancellation?

Thanks all of you for support and advice.

Most desi real estate agents are rip off artists who just want to get the sale..

This was his job to let u know about the rentals..

For now just stick with status quo.
Rent for a few months and then decide, dont take any decisions in haste from hear say and then go about cancelling and getting new one which will cost u more..

Water heaters are best rented.. My rental already broke down once.

15-30$ for rental water heater is avg based on type.. dont listen to any garbage people say about about u are paying too much.. they are comparing apples to oranges..

Case of point one guy said i am paying too much for my water heater.. does he know the size of the tank.. how did he make the comment then..

All companies have a std rate chart based on type. u can find out from direct energy how much it is to rent the same kind and only then u will know if u are paying more or less.
