Dear All CD

we will be new immigrant in next month.

At present , we are working in Dubai & planning to land in March 2010.

we are looking for intial survival job May be in Office assistant , CALL Center, Courier, Pizza hut, KFC or.......

I am surfing this site from Last one week and find very helpful.

i request all seniors to give their advise and suggestions on the following points.

1) We are initial landing in Markham. But which area is good for settlement with consideration of Survival job, Transportation & Indian Community.
We are plannig for part time studies , hence also looking for some good college near by.

2) How to find out initial survival job. if some body can advise .

A few words for you.

Do not look for survival jobs soon after you land. These jobs are easy to come by and one should look at them only if you have major financial problems. Please come prepared with atleast 6 months of expenses and be prepared to see that vanish fast. However concentrate on jobs in your field, upgrade your skills and get licensing if required. If you think the scope of getting a job in your field is thin, think of an alternative careers. These survival jobs sometimes may cloud your vision and you may end up doing them for years together.

You can get more advice if you are more specific about your experience. Also it is difficult to suggest a college unless you tell what you wish to study.

Markham is a good place.

100 % agreed with Iceberg, Do not make your mind to do Survival job right away, Come first and do your best, I know it is not easy.

There is lots of opportunity if you are positive towards work and life.
