Any medicines, freely available, that we consume daily or as and when we need such as headache pills etc are considered over the counter (OTC) medicines are allowed in small quantities. (A Reasonable amount) The other medicines that we MUST take which are prescribed are usually allowed in bulk quantities, if you carry them with a prescription from your Doctor and the medicines you possess are tagged with one such label by the Pharmacist. (Also you have NO Health coverage here in Canada for the first ninety days anyway, and you don't get to see a Doctor for that long a time.) So Bring in enough supply for an year. Make sure that the Doctor says that in his lingo in that slip and you carry that slip.
When you are doing a favour for some one, please make sure that these medications are not prohibited items. They could fall under some classification that you and me do not know. Just to give you one such item, it could be narcotic or barbiturates. Not knowing what the item is, I could not even Google the Elprex to know what that stuff is made up of. So, I would advice you NOT to carry it for him. On the contrary if it is just another goof ball, you decide for yourself how you go about it.
The risk is yours. You have been warned.
Hope this helps you a little.
Freddie.
