Hi All, I need your help in getting a job in oil industry in calgary or in ontario. I am a mech engr from chennai with more than 20 yrs of exp in oil storage terminal operation in India and Dubai. As usual I applied for all related jobs in monster/oil career/job bank etc etc , but NO RESPONSE. Pl give ur advise ,
1. Should I go to Calgary ,stay there for a week or two and try to find a job? Will this work out? People are telling Calgary is HOT in job market, Is it true?
2. Pl give me any address or contact in Calgary for B&B facility preferably in an area closer to business district.
3.Any suggestion/contacts/advise/ for getting an ON/OFF in Oil rigs at ANY LEVEL.

You must know that HEAT evaporates gas. And the current economy and the price of crude has put a damper on all of the operations here in Canada. AND the jobs that you heard about a few months back also evaporated with it.
Do not loose hope. Keep your eyes open ears peeled and your senses tuned up and keep watching this board. As long as you have a job there, where ever you are now, you are doing well. Hang in there.
There are lots of posts here from other desi's on B & B in Alberta. Look for them in their postings in leisure. In the meantime here is something to browse through.

Oil industry job will be available if oil price remains above 60 usd . I was interviewed by Petro Canada & selected inlast September . In october they informed me that they have postponed their plan by 9 months .

dsd, Thanks for the info. I have exp in terminal operations and oil tanker loading/discharging. Do u know where in canada these type of activities happening? I don't find any shore oil terminal in canada. If u know something related to this field in Ontario or in canada , pl share with me. Your info will be very helpful.
