Hello Friends
Can you please let me know the advantages/ disadvantages of Work permit over landed immigrant.. and if its already discussed please send me the link.
Further .. let me know if one is on work permit can he change to PR status.

Work Permit (WP)
A work permit is not an immigration document which means that u can not live in Canada permanently. you will have to leave Canada at the end of your work permit.
Also you need a temporary resident visa alongwith ur WP.
Landed Immigrant or Permanent Resident(PR)
You r free to live and work anywhere
you will have all health benefits

Work permit IS an (type of) immigration document. The difference between the WP and the immigrant visa is : Immigrant visa allows you to live and work anywhere - freely - in Canada. The WP is in most cases employer specific and has an expiry date.
The WP holder HAS all the health benefits (at least in ON) if the holder is paying taxes - but the health card has the same expiry date as the work permit. Whereas the immigrant visa holder's health card has the expiry date (in ON) but can be renewed indefinitely as long as you maintain the PR status of Canada and the resident status of your province.
