Recently I bought a furniture from Brick Heartland center, Mississauga, and along with that furniture I also bought the extended warranty.
Now the furniture has some problem, and for the past almost 3 months, I'm following up with Brick for the service of the furniture. They don't say NO, but they don't provide service. Whenever I make too much of noise, they send one person for an inspection, but after that nothing moves.
It is a very frustrating thing. I have requested them, made some noise in their store and on email and fax and also threatened them that I will be going to court, but nothing moves.
I checked up with a lawyer, and he says that the court here usually takes a huge amount of time and it also involves a lot of time and money (close to 1000 bucks).
Does anybody know
1. Any alternative way to get the service done from BRICK
2. If I decide to go to the court, what is the process
3. How do I involve newspaper and TV into this.
I'm thinking of taking this to our beloved politicians, so a poll would definitely give a lot of advantage to us.
try Mr Silverman of CP24.
If paid by CC, check if the txn is covered & can be put in dispute under extended CC coverage. Also, for future you might want to check Leons - far better than Brick, Sears & the likes with fat prices.
We bought furniture from Brick about 3 years ago.
Although the items were fine, a few screws and holders were missing - no big deal.
Anyhow, we went back to the store and asked them to order it for us.
After making us wait for almost an hr. a rep finally put in the order and said it will take 4 - 6 weeks for the parts to arrive (getting shipped from China - what do you expect?)
We are still waiting for the items to arrive...
I found the customer service in their store to be poor, uncaring and pathetic.
In your case, did you pay by credit card?
If you did, you may have an avenue for appeal.
Talk to your credit card issuing bank about disputing this charge.
Tell them you have done your best to resolve this with the store and nothing has happened.
Quote the date, time of the conversations and the name of the person in the store you spoke to.
The more information you can provide the more credible your position will be.
Then call the store and tell them that unless the issue is resolved in 48 hrs. you will be disputing the charge with the credit card company.
If nothing happens, go ahead and dispute the charge in writing as well as phone.
Some card companies only allow dispute within 2 billing statement and some 3.
You need to act pronto.
Once that period is over, or if you did not pay by CC, you have no avenue but to keep escalating it within Brick.
Write to their head office, their cust. service manager, their VP, CEO and so on.
Sometimes it works.
Forget about the courts or the politicians.
Good luck !
