Well I am still in Delhi , professionally qualified working in the fastest growing segment (Telecom) & engaged with Tatas(Manager) but I get peanuts............don't be living in a fools paradise , in India U should consider your self to b lucky if you even have a job to sum up as u have people who are qualified, experienced , hardworking......& working in call centers earning 15-20K permonth that too in only night shifts.

1-If you are extremly lucky , working in a MNC : U get 1 Lac Per year for every year of experience. ( 6 years exp u get 6 Lacs avaerage PA)

2- If U are from IIMs u will not be in India if you r the unfortunate one U get 2 Lacs for every year of experience .

3- Otherwise 20 % of private jobs are under 6 lacs per anumm

4- The rest are just trying to make ends meet

Add the 30-33 % tax that is deducted with nothing fron the government in return except for protection from our neighbouring countries.........and a lot of scams.

Add to it the quality of life which includes ( No regular electricuty in 90 % of the country , no water in the pipes , if there is something coming u can't drink it, no scope for getting your children admitted under a normal govt. school if you do get them addmitted they will surely have no future in this country, no health back up .....we live on our own expences or corporate health insurance)

But still you have the best sleep in the night if you are in India ( Do take me seriously, I have been abroad for almost 22 years & recently got an immigration visa to Canada which I will be using).

In short you have the world at your feet in India if you are getting atleast 100000 per month in your hand............else don't even think about it. Office is usual crap , with dirty polictics , you are a a success if your boss is delighted by your intrest in his personal worl ....else you will slog for ever..........................................happy festivities !!!!!!!!!

Come and live in any country you want, but stop bad mouthing your own nation. I wonder with this kind negativity (not to mention the grammatical and spelling mistakes you have made in you post), how well are you gonna do in Canada.

BTW where are you getting these numbers from?.....90% of the country doesn't get regular electricity, 20% of the jobs in private sector are under 6 Lacs.

This is a typical example of "Grass is greener on the other side of the fence " syndrome.

From my experience, I would say that while you might be right about a fairly large population's status, generalising it is a far cry.

I was recently in India, and one of my nephew-in-law has got a job as an engineer with a starting salary of 20k pm + normal perks (which makes it 2.5 lacs per year). And where did he graduate from???? An unknown college in Pune!

My other nephews and nieces are making right from 75k per month to 3.5 lacs PM (42 lacs per year), and they aren't professionally qualified (like engineer/doctor/CA/MBA etc.) and have experiences of about 8-16 years! Infact, after having come to Canada, I feel financially very \"poor\" when I spend my vacation with them!

Here also you pay for health - whether you need it or not. And when you need it, most probably you will not have it immediately even if you can afford to pay separately for it!

And in my office here, when I drink water from the tap, majority frowns on my action and some tell me straight - how can you do that....you should be drinking filtered water. So even in Canada, they don't consider tap water as drinking water..................for them it is only for shower!

Tell me a place where offices do not have politics, and the politics is not similar (the boss is delighted by your interest in his personal world!)

Wake up man!

azami,

Dont know from where u got the salary numbers. We have friends in Bangalore and Chennai whose children have dropped out of day time college and work in the call centres at night (they go to evening college). They draw around Rs. 20k PM. This does not include perks such as free transportation and subsidized meals (at any time). U do the math.

If u r in IT, India is the best place now.

Salaries are way different from what they were a decade back largely due to the BPO and the chain reaction it has had .Its not uncommon to find ppl earning close to a lac a month in cities of Bangalore , Pune , Mumbai and even Gurgaon .

But this may be restricted to largely areas which have been affected by BPO and may constitute only a 10 - 20 % of the work force .A good 50 % would still meander around 20 - 40 K bracket which may go down lesser in smaller cities but then so goes the cost of living also .

In essence the economy has shot up and so have the salaries which are no longer a constraint for career progress unlike 10-20 years back . We should be happy that the huge english speaking talent pool in India has finally been utilised by outsourcing . And this process is going to continue.

On a side note the salaries have gone up but so has the cost of living ....

DIO correct me ..but if one is in IT and is good he is equally well anywhere -US ,UK , Canada or India .

Azami, did you copy/paste somebody else's post?

On 24 July 2006, you were asking on this forum how to apply for immigration and now you are saying you recently got an immgration visa? It is not even 3 months.

To apply for immigration or not is a personal choice, not dependent on salary alone.

Wow, 80% of private jobs pay over 6 lacs per annum (irrespective of work you do ?), that is something!
