While applying for a single visa (TRV).............what is the minimum period given , i.e. if I mention a visit of 3 weeks , would I be given a six months single visa to be finalised at the pOE.............. I wanted to mention 3 weeks in the application , get a six months visa & mention 6 months at POE , some one told me that there is a 32 months visa also fom delhi

Generally for six months, You mention whatever, they will give visa generally for six months. You can enter in Canada any time in between duration of theses six months.
And at the time of entry, visa officer has power to decide, that how long you can stay here. He will stamp on your passport, maximum duration of stay. This is also generally for six months. So you can stay maximum six months from the date of entry.
Don't try to apply for 32 months visa in first time.
