i think it really comes down to where one is living..eg. Toronto hospitals are the worst because of the population....and sometimes nurses who are really frustrated about another delivery can vent out on the other and this i believe should not happen.... i really think giving the docs and nurses your piece of mind helps.....and it should not matter where u r from what matters is is the health of u and ur baby.
i am also due soon and to make sure that my baby and myself are well taken care of we've taken some measures such as:
taking a tour of the hospital
if u have benefits get a fully private room since u really don't know how long ur going to be there why not make it the best and ur hubby can stay in the room as well
get to know the nurses and ur doc ahead of time so u know u will be treated fairly
ask questions regarding hospital policies, although they are suppose to provide u with that info....but doesn't harm to hear it from someone
oh and one more thing......someone has already pointed that out but walk in last month as much as u can but not overdoing it, it helps the baby to engage in ur pelvis so that u can breath easily......ur doc might say it doesn't but i am saying this because i have "tested and proved" it. I started walking because my baby didn't want to engage so i started walking and the baby is locked firmly in my pelvis....goood luck..........i have said enough...i think
and hey pm me if there is anything esle i can help with
take care anita
Some comments on above suggestions:
1. For delivery, a busy hospital is always better than one with only a few cases in a month.
Reason? Every one, including doctors and nurses have more practice, more expertise, and experience in handling a lot of different kinds of complications.
200 deliveries per day are common in some hospitals in Delhi and almost nothing goes wrong there.
2. For baby oil it is better to use plain olive oil or coconut oil which is more safe and effective, rather than Johnsons & Johnsons Baby oil or other branded baby oils by pharmaceutical companies, a lot of which are mineral oil based and can cause reaction/damage to tender skin. If you use baby cream, fresh milk cream is better for applying before bath, but for convenience any good baby cream can be used.
