I am a permanent resident and landed here in April 2005. Now I would like to sponsor my parents & brother for PR. Can somebody tell me how should I do it? What are the prerequisites for application of their PR. Will I need a lawyer to do the same?

Hi,
You need to have at least one notice of assessment before you can sponser and in that notice of assessment your salary has to be around $36 K a year to sponser 3 people. Also your brother needs to be a dependant before you are allowed to sponser him.
If you know english, then you need not hire a lawyer or consultant. ( Though the CIC website says that hiring someone will not hasten your application , i found by experience that it does actually speed things up but not the kind of speed to compensate for your money. I hope that i have not offended anyone!)

As regards the income of 36K that you mentioned TK, it would also depend on the size of the existing family. Here's the link to the Guide from CIC. Keep in mind the Low Income Cut-off Table (LICO) has changed as-off Feb. 1st.
