Hi,
I completed my Landing few weeks back.
I own a Camry in US for the past 6 years and I though it will be 7 years old by the time I move and hence I decided to go for a new Car (Gas Economical small Car) once moved to Canada and buy a Van later for the family.
This is the reason I did not mention in my Goods to Follow.
I am now in deep thoughts \"Why don't I bring my Car to Canada, atlast it is in good condition, all standard features required for Canadian weather such as ABS etc..\"
I reviewed the official Canadian site http://www.riv.ca" rel="nofollow">LINK related to Car and unfortunately couldn't understand the process in my case.
Can I bring my car later into Canada which I didn't mention while Landing.
I can prove my ownerhsip that I had been owning this for the past 6 years ie.., before landing.
Appreciate your Inputs if some one has come across this situation or has knowledge on this.
Many thanks,
JRF.

Yes
Process in general is as follows..
1. Get the \"No Recall\" Certificate from Toyota. Call the number given on the site.
2. Pay any loans and get title transferred over to your name
3. Just drive up to the border and tell the customs that you wanna import the car.. At this point you better be up and up with other aspects of your PR like days spent .. PR card validity etc..
3. They will ask you to pay 225 $ approx. and will give you list of things to do make it canadian car..
4. For some of them you get 10 days for others you get 45..
Do that.. transfer the title by visiting RMV in canada.. check if province you are going to has any special rules..
5. Transfer your licence. you can't mix-n-match.. Canada plates.. canada licence..
Capiche?
Hi Zcool,
Thank you very much for the helpful information.
Do you think I would owe any Import Tax other than the $225.
Regards,
JRF.

I think you have to pay Import duty, if you had not declare goods to follow list while landing,
and second point is you need to send all paper to US custom ( border) before 72 hr.

I think you can avoid import tax if you can stay outside of Canada for a year and then finally move permenantly to canada and import your car.
