Believe it or not, I'm only hearing of this Tino Izzo now. I went and searched for his material and he's really good. I don't think I'm worthy of playing with him... wow... he's really good.
I have a friend here in Winnipeg who plays tabla. He and I have been planning to do a joogalbandi for months now with him on tabla and me on vocal/guitar/harmonium. Unfortunately, my paltas are only good enough to do in the shower.
Having said all this, I promise an entertaining evening on July 16th. I hope you can make it.

Just do a Jugalbandi on Guitar-Tabla. I could fake (as with anything else) a tabla while you rip on the guitar.

I've actually tried that too. I'm not much of a 'ripper' on guitar but I did try that of thing with auto-wah on my electric guitar tuned to drop-D. I used the lower 3-strings to play tanpura and then played a mellow alaap sort of thing on the higher ones. I'm still experimenting with it though.
