I am planning to land in Toronto during July,2005 with my family as a PR.My wife is having the Polip problem in her nastral, since last 10 years. Due to this her nose usualy blocked and sometime she is not able to breath by nose. She is taking the homeopathic madicines, but not getting the relief completely.Doctors here in India are advising for surgery.Surgery we are avoiding ,because even after surgery these polip may also reoccur after sometime. Please let me know how this Polip problem will effect her in Toronto weather ,particularly in winters.Or shall we plan for the sugery in Toronto or in India. Is any advice on this?Thanx

If your wife's condition is not diagnosed as an emergency or she is not in a critical condition, be mentally prepared to be put into queues with backlogs of 1-2 years in the surgery wait list.
Something to keep in mind: First three months in Toronto - you wont be covered by OHIP.
Polip is a very technical medical term (google did not tell me much). Please check with your doctor about the effect of severe winters.

Your advice please.
If you are a PR, and have passed the first three months in Canada, you will not pay a single cent for the operation charges.
Regarding polip, I am sorry I cant help you with that, I am not a doctor.

As mentioned in previous posts, you will have to get private medical insurance for your family for three months. After that Ontario provincial health insurance Plan (OHIP) will cover your family. You need to find a family doctor right away. He has to refer you to a hospital for surgery. I dont know the waiting list or times. The OHIP will cover all charges (including stay and food at the hospital). If your annual income in canada is below ~ 25 K, you dont pay the newly introduced OHIP premium.
