I(35+yrs old) have been driving in Canada for about 2 yrs now...... I own a 94 accord.
I was driving in US too for 3 yrs but cannot produce a no claim certificate. Someone just told me I am paying too much for my car insurance. ....which is $300pm. Is it too much?
Any advise...Ontario senior CDs?

Canada cheating is everywhere, it is called hitech corporate cheating. which is part and parcel of Canadian lifestyle.

:( it is comments from the likes of faltu that give us all a bad rap. look car insurance is very expensive in canada...esp in toronto...but that is coz the product is very rich and tons of people including our desis de-fraud ins companies daily. look at the ads on indian tv about how people have made bangles from car insurance claims...that is ridiculous. However...having said that, your best bet sakt is to keep shopping around. Car ins is based on where u live and how far u drive to work as well as driving exp in canada only. go to kanetix.com for quote comparisons or keep thumbing thru the yellow pages. you will get something good...might be around 200 or 220 a month if you live in GTA. If u are a professional...try Meloche Monnex...they insure professional groups. Good luck!

Hi Sakt,

$300 per month on your car insurance is a bit on the higher side. Why not talk to an auto insurance broker and ask him to negotiate a better deal for you?

Why can't you produce insurance history from US?

For a '94 Accord, $300/mo. (assuming only you as a driver) is too much. Is it comprehensive or liability only?

$ 300/- IS NOT TOO HIGH COMPARED TO WHAT A NEW DRIVER IN CANADA PAYS (2 YRS)
Is this comprehensive or third party. You might want to consider 3rd party to help you reduce your premium
What about deductable, would this be $ 500/-, try $ 1000/-

The above will reduce your premium. Well this is our experience we too were in a smiliar situation and did above and oh yes if you are a member of a professional organisation like CMA ( Certified management accouts), purchasing etc. you can approach based on that membership to TD Monnex and you will pay a much cheaper premium

My CAR is Honda Accord EXR 91 and my insurance premium is 165/- per months (liability+fire and theft) from "the personnel" and my G2 is one and half year old.

There is no standard and business ethics in Insurance field and there is no control of Government on Companies or we can say Government give open way for insurance companies for looting public. Ontario Government promised in election that they can reduce 15% insurance premium but everybody feel at their renewal its increase by 20 to 35% instead of reducing 15%. THINK....

American car has less insurance premium then Japan Car, Any logic ?

Best of luck for your try
