Hi everybody, first of all i would like to thank all of you behide Candiandesi for creating such a wonderful site. It is really helpful for people like me who are in process of migrating to canada. I personally found it astonishing.
I have done BE ( industrial & Production) from Bangalore university, and MBA ( Internation Business) from Panjab University Chandigarh. After that I have 6 years of experience in Sales, International Marketing, Suplly Chain management, and Business Development and Call Center operations ( 1&1/2 to 2 years in each of these).
You guys are requested to kindly guide me on few aspects.
1. shall i pursue sales/marketing career in canada as well or will it be better to shift line to maybe Computing, software etc. In that case kindly suggest which line is promising and what course shall i complete to get in to it. I am open to various careers as long as they have potential in long term.
2. In case Sales and marjeting is OK, then advise me some suitable courses which can help me get a break in Sales/Marketing/consultancy etc. in Softwre/Teklecom/Computers or some other promising ind.
3. Will it be better to do some inter -desiplinary course for eg . some thing like Managment & Telecom/Softwre, or Strategic Marketing & Consultancy, Product management & Telecom etc. In that case pls. advise some such courses which upon completion can help me get a break ( after some canadian experience say 1 yr down the line) in some good industry.
Thanks & Cheers....
Top Gun

Do or Die.....
Hi Top,
Dont waste money on any courses their, Canadian companies will not accept or recognize your degree or certificate for job here. Your current education status is OK. Plesae check job search site http://www.workopolis.com" rel="nofollow">LINK and find out the requirement of Canadian Employer and try to match your qualification and experience and judge yourself. Market is here moderate.
Canadian Employer prefer Canadian Experience and/or Canadian degree.
Please keep this in mind.
Try hard.

Top Gun, as a product of the Canadian educational system, I must apologize for the rude awakening that you have got from the above two posts.
Sadly, they are but true ! Your qualifications are quite good. However, in the Canadian workforce they are useless. Reasons for which can be found above. If you want to "compete" with others, you will have to take full time courses (preferably University level stuff) in order to stand a chance. A worst case scenario, doing a Canadian MBA ! (But it doesnt come cheap.. $50K / 2 years @ the U of Toronto). Are you willing to risk that much money and time ? If yes then you stand a good chance of securing some Good jobs after your course finishes ( You are eligible for the program as you have work experience...You will have to take your GMAT exam though !)
If you are not prepared to do this, then you are better of reviving your engineering career. Again, this does not guarantee you any jobs. It just makes you "competitive" (whatever that word may mean!). Software is good line of work, and 'cos of your Management skills you will stand a chance of securing jobs there. However, I have no idea abt your proficieny levels with software management. YOu should check it out. Skim through the postings on

Sure,
come over do some technician (or similar) level course and wear a uniform, get a good tool box and start turning that wrench.
If not there is always plumbing and electrician level jobs, good pay though, but work is ***cked up. you will end up frustrated.
But I am sure you are prepared for it.
So hop on the next flight .

I once made a mistake, but I was wrong about it.
Hello Topgun,
I am sure the messages you have received paint a fairly bleak picture. It is not meant to discourage you but prepare you for the harsh realities that you may face here. However, it is not true that everyone will share the same experience. Nevertheless, knowing some of these facts will help you prepare mentally.
A number of people immigrate thinking that their long and specialised work experience/qualifications will land them a great job or a similar level position that they just quit in their home country. Sadly, this is far from reality. In other words, you have to be prepared to struggle initially to make your ends meet. A number of people struggle for a very long time for a variety of reasons.
I am not sure whether taking a couple of courses in your field will do the trick. I suggest you think hard of what you would like to do. However, upon landing do try to establish contacts with people in a similar industry who may be able to guide you. Also, work on your writing and language skills. Although you may be proficient in English, there are some subtle differences which if known help you to integrate sooner.
