Hi Ulkesh,
I am also planning to move to TO in another 2 months time, and I am in the same dilema, cannot just make up what to do.
My family comprises of me, wife, 3 teenaged daughters, to be admitted to class xi, xii, there are 2 sides to the issue, you are increasing the chances of getting job with your spouse with you, more moral support to boost you, obviously more expenses too.
Staying alone, cooking, housekeeping of one's own house, and then doing the struggle of finding job is hard too may frustate you and compel to take wrong decision, just arguing both pro \con, hard decision , got to take it.

Okay Guys
I avoid posting anything these days because same questions are asked again n again and it gets frustrating to answer them over and over again but will make a quick exception in this case.

1. First of all do understand that coming along with family costs more for tickets etc. Secondly you will have to rent an apartment as you can not share with other "guys". Also you may feel a little overwhelmed by initial expenses if you dont bring more than $15000

2. Now lets consider practicalities.
Women find jobs much faster here. (provided they are willing, capable and ready to go out and get in the workforce regardless of the type of job being offered.)
Initially most people find work in odd jobs that get you about $1200 -1500 after taxes. To live a half decent life in Toronto a family needs at least $1500 or so. This is WITHOUT owning a car. It is very much a neccessity and if you want to have it, you already have crossed your budget. Now if your spouse can also work at the same time your income becomes...........$2500 Kuch samjhe????? What do they say in India Ek aur Ek gyarah This is the most important point.
If they are mere housewives you can safely ignore this point. And I must ask you to carefully evaluate income vs expenses scenario.

3. Do keep in mind that there are some other complexities as well. If you have young kids you need to arrange baby sitter for them while you work which will cost 300-600 per month per child. There are many other cultural / marital issues etc.

4. I came alone much against wishes of my friend and regretted it big time later on. If I had arrived with my wife we both could have earned from first week as we had no kids and were ready to work in any place. While I always stayed alone right from day 1, i could not save a penny initially as all income was being spent. With two incomes it would have a totally different story. A saving of just $500 a month is sufficient to buy a VCR, DVD player, 27 " TV !!!!!!So the difference is enormous.
You will also end up spending lot of money on phones etc if you leave family behind.

and after writing all this I have a message for you Ulkesh
PLEASE do NOT write off Interceptor's advice. You have NO idea what you will face here when you land. He is giving you an honest opinion based on his actual expereince...not on hearsay. But with patience and hard work one does succeed in the end. The end may mean anything between 2 to 5 years....thats a long time especially if you calculate the monthly expenses in Canada.

Indians are generally so gung ho and optimistic that they dont want to listen to anyone trying to warn them. and thats the main reason why they end up banging their head against the wall in the end.

Come prepared to face the storm. Whatever you have got in India, your professional expereince, achievements, skills, education, die hard attitude, solid command of english, international experience.........all this provides the "THRUST" for you to achive escape velocity to leave India. But once the plane has taken off all these attributes have done their job and are of ZERO value.
You have to start from scratch and the landing is Grisly to put in mild terms. Come prepared.

DIE HARD !
