Valid point, but how am I to know the past 'deeds' of my candidate if I have been living in the city only for the past 3-4 years? The public memory is generally very short and we tend to forget what difficulties we faced last summer...
These type of news bring out the background information for the general public - if only there were 'neutral' news agencies who would list out all the facts about each candidate for the general public to make their own decisions.
