Hi I am considering a move to Newmarket/Markham. How is it to live in that area?

What does a 2BR apt cost? What does a semidetached home or freehold townhouse cost in that area?

Any people living out in that area with feedback?

I live in Markham. This is one of the very few parts of GTA where there almost no apartments.

In general real estate in Markham is extremely expensive.
Area where I live - Semi Detached house costs 420K +

I have a 4 year old and a 2 year old and considering moving to Canada in early 2011 from US.I'm looking to rent in a residential community attached to a very good school district. I'm visiting Canada next week. Most of the links point o Markham, Richmond hill. Can some one suggest good options, excluding skyrises/apartments I can take a look during my visit? My current US east coast montly rental is between $1600 and $2000. Thanks!

Hi,

I would say, explore North York (probably somewhere near Don mills/Sheppard or Victoria park/Finch). There are many good schools and many Condos/Apartments for rent as well.

Commuting out of both places into the city is a problem.

I believe the taxes are less in Markham.
