Hello,
Last week my parents received visitor Visa with duration of 3 months. Could you guys please tell me is this the period they can stay in Canada or this is the window during which they can enter and can stay 6 months.

this is the window during which they can enter and can stay 6 months (or for the period authorized at the POE)
That is the total time they have for their stay in Canada. They will have to return after 3 months unless of course they get it extended .

Incorrect - refer to my answer...
Validy of visa on the passport is indicating that your parents must enter Canada within those 3 months.
Upon entry in Canada, the normal validity of stay is 6 months from the date of entry, unless an earlier exit date is stamped by the immigration authority
