Hi,
I have applied for permanent resident 4 years back.now the embassy asked me to submit police clearance certificate, all the original educational documents and proof of funds, ielts results original etc.what does it mean?they will call me for an interview or they will just ask me to get my medical done? How much time it will take them to verify my documents and ask me for medical done. somebody told me if i get my medical done from an authorised dr.from the embassy on behalf of myself means if I had been called then the medical report will be usefull, if my case takes longer than one year then my medical would be waisted and ill have to get my merdical done again. In this way the waiting period for medical report to come can be reduced.Actually I had to land in canada with in 4 months.thats why I want to save time. pl anybody guide me what should I do?

Hello Febpreet,

Since I have not yet recieved any information regarding my file (placed under spouse visa)....this means that they have not yet started processing my file or they have started but there is no communication letter from embassy?

Can you throw some light on it? I am very much worried, I want to reach canada ASAP...when we call at their call center nobody replies properly to our questions.

regards,
VCA

Hi VCA,

I can understand how does it feel to be away from one's spouse, especially if you have recently married. As earlier mention - been there done that. My wife is landing on 20th after a much wait.

Anyway, here's my timeline and I hope it will help you to ascertain when you can expect any reply from CIC:

I send my application for sponsorship: April 24, 2007
Received response from them: About May 24 or 25th, 2007
CIC started processing my wife's file: May 17th
Sent papers to Delhi: May 31st, 2007
It then took about 2 months to get the visa. 2 months due to her passport didn't bear the last name, so it took one month where we sent the passport for addition of name, otherwise it would've taken 1 month.

So, seeing the above, I received the reply from them after a month. If your husband sent all the documentation as laid out in the guide, then be ready to hear something from them anytime. Unfortunately, they take their own time and even if you opt for any immigration lawyer/agency, they take their own time to respond. You only need to be patient. I can understand from our own life without each other after getting married. It's hard.

Don't worry. They will soon contact your husband about the status. Keep an eye on it and wait. By no time, you'll be with him. :)

Take care. Good luck for everything.
