Yes I did. And then I got on with my life as a Canadian. The only time I hear or read about the Queen is like never. The colonial status means nothing to my life or sorroundings is what I meant. The allegiance line is more ceremony than anything else. I doubt too many Britons feel "allegiance" to the Queen these days, we're a continent removed.

hello everybody...i have also been checking this site out for sometime now...very very helpful. i am from amchi mumbai....married and went to south africa 4 yrs ago...premanent resident here now...and now my husband who is an engineer and myself have applied for skilled worker immigration from south africa......i'm very glad to see the many desis in canada...!!! all the very best to all the people on this forum. we will be in canada hopefully in 3 yrs time....or earlier if we can get a work permit....
