First time I started developing some sort of signs of carpal tunnel about 7 years back. I was in India at that time. I really was not knowing the name of that syndrome and didn't consulted any doctor. However I did one thing. I started using mouse from left hand (I am righty) and it helped me lot. Than again I switched back to right hand.
After couple of years (and after moving to Canada), while initially working on job as well as on the CanadianDesi code, It again started and this time with lot of pain. This time I stared reading about it and found that having an elastic band would help. I bought that and it did helped. However the paid didn't gone completely with just that band.
I started working on other things and it helped me a lot. Now after 5 years I rarely have such pain, not atleast in the wrist. No need to say that I am not wearing band.
I did following to avoid that.
1. Changed the mouse holding position. Now I try to pick it as straing as possible
2. After every 30 to 60 minutes of keyboarding, I did some hand exercise. (Very simple twisting fingers and wrist)
3. Kept switching mouse between both the hands.
4. Used a chair with hand-rest and the hand rest at the same level as the keyboard.
5. Avoided using mouse with wheel. It was MAJOR cause of pain.
6. Chose a little wider mouse (I saw people using track ball for carpal tunnel solution. However I noticed someone developed elbow pain after he started using track ball)
7. Kept hand straight while typing on keyboard
8. Avoided using laptop on lap . Ocassionally I do that, but not for a longer duration.
9. Used a palm pad with a mouse
10. This one with significant effect. I started working on diet and found that by not having any drinks with preservatives and acidic contents the pain goes away. I stopped drinking any of those drinks. Now once in a week I take fresh juice.

thanks for the input.. it really will help me.. can you tell me what you mean by " mouse without wheel" and " Used a palm pad with a mouse".
where can i buy those.. thks
Some of the mice are coming with a wheel in the center. That wheel is used in scrolling the content. Using same fingure for scrolling caused me some trouble.
Mouse Pad are also available at any computer store.

I almost took retirement at the age of 30 due to shoulder , wrist and elbow pains..
Today i am back at what i do best ..
My remedy
Ayurvedic medicine R Compound from Alsarin.
Learn some yoga stretches..., do some cardio excercises , avoid non veg food...
Also avoid using ball mice .. use optical mice or a trackball mouse
Did you tried trackball? I think it puts strain on another muscle.
