What up with Toronto? No big events like Diwali Mela, India Fair(in Aug). I was in Dallas and Sydney. Both these places had fairs and melas. In Sydney in was held in Stadium. 15-20 thousand people used to attend. For everyone it in was fun, fashion. Food, variety programs and other stalls. For business it was new customers. At the end fireworks
I guess if arranged in GTA it would much bigger.

You mentioned of huge gatherings and festivities in Dallas ( which is US ) and in Sydney ( Australia ) . There is no comparision between them and GTA

Here most of the desis are too tired after hard day's work or sleeping in the day to go to a night shift job.

This is the place where you also see many depressed desis in bus stops / subways.

You are correct. I guess we are struggling in our new country . The weather is also makes us depressed.

That is purpose of these having these events to have some joy and fun. It is just few days in a year (may be a day or two) we can have some joy and fun. So if have these kinds of events held, it will lift up our spirits, get connected with our country, our roots and our culture.
We always live with hope.
