Raipur, Jan 14 (IANS) Congress leader and former Chhattisgarh chief minister Ajit Jogi Monday accused the BJP-led state government of not being serious about solving the Maoist issue plaguing the state since the late 1980s. "The BJP government has failed to protect the life of the common man as well as security forces. It should resign on moral grounds," Jogi demanded. He while the central government was providing massive fund to curb leftist insurgency and has deputed dozens of paramilitary forces' companies, provided 18 helicopters, opened army training camps at Kanker and Mahasamund, strengthened intelligence channels in affected areas, modernised police stations in tribal areas besides other measures, the state government was indulging in misappropriation of the funds. Jogi alleged that innocent villagers and public representatives were still being killed by Maoists in tribal areas and tribal girls were being molested in ashram schools. He added that tribals were being framed as Naxals and killed by securitymen in fake encounters, leading to locals migrating to other areas in search of jobs. Jogi blamed the BJP government in Chhattisgarh for failing to curb smuggling of diamonds, iron ore, coal and other precious minerals and that the state government was claiming achievement data even in those areas which have not seen a ray of development.
