Bhardwaj also wants to shoot in foreign locales

Gurgaon, Jan 9 (IANS) Filmmaker Vishal Bhardwaj, known for making rustic, village-based dramas "Omkara", "Ishqiya", "Maqbool", "Makdee" and the latest "Matru Ki Bijlee Ka Mandola", says he wants to shoot abroad someday.

"It (India) is a beautiful country and can be explored endlessly. That is the reason why I have never been able to go outside India to shoot a film. I am also eager to shoot in UK, US or Switzerland. They are such great holidays," the 47-year-old said here Tuesday at a promotional press conference of "Matru Ki..."

He has set "Matru Ki..." in Haryana and says despite the traditional language in the film, he has tried to keep it simple.

"We have tried to keep the dialect of the film such that even a South Indian understands it. The most beautiful thing about India is that the dialect changes every 100 km and the culture changes," he said.

"Matru Ki Bijlee Ka Mandola" stars Imran Khan, Anushka Sharma, Pankaj Kapur and Shabana Azmi and hits theatres this Friday.

Talking about the last-minute re-shoot of the song "Oh Boy Charlie", the director said, "I was not sure if we would have the time to change it but then during the end of the film's shoot, we shot it in just one day."

He also slammed all reports claiming that he hired another choreographer to direct the song, originally choreographed by Saroj Khan.

"I did not change the choreographer, I did not take anybody else. I myself choreographed it as a director and as a director it is my right to change something I do not like. I change my scenes as well. With all due respect to Saroj-ji, she is a great choreographer," he clarified.
