Gurgaon, June 12 (IANS) After the death of eight peacocks Monday, three more of the national bird were found dead Tuesday in the same village, Hasanpur, in the Aravali hills area.

A team of experts from Hisar's Haryana Agriculture University (HAU) would visit the village Wednesday for conducting post-mortems of the dead birds.

Meanwhile, several seriously ill peacocks from Rewari and Mahendrgarh districts were treated in the veterinary hospital here. There are unconfirmed reports of more than a dozen peacock deaths from villages in these two districts of south Haryana.

"Some heat stroke-affected peacocks and peahen were treated in Rewari, and several others from Mahendragarh were taken to Gurgaon hospital," Wildlife Inspector Shiv Ram told IANS.

The death toll of peacocks due to heat stroke in this Aravali village of Hasanpur alone has reached 11 within 48 hours.
