Denial of ads to Sakshi: Court suspends order

Hyderabad, May 17 (IANS) The Andhra Pradesh High Court Thursday suspended the government order which stopped official advertisements to Telugu daily and television channel Sakshi owned by YSR Congress party leader Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy.

A vacation bench of Justice B. Seshasayana Reddy and Justice K.G. Shankar directed the state government to file a reply by June 16.

The bench was dealing with the petitions by Jagati Publications, Indira Television and employees of Sakshi, which challenged the government order.

The government by its May 9 order direced all departments and agencies to stop releasing government advertisements and notifications to Sakshi in view of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) filing a charge sheet against the media house.

The order came a day after CBI froze bank accounts of Jagati Publications, Indira Television and Janani Infrastructure, all of them owned by Jaganmohan Reddy.

The high court posted to May 22 the hearing of a petition by Jagati Publications, which challenged the special CBI court's order that upheld the CBI's freezing of its bank accounts.
