No complaint on Eden pitch: Rajeev Shukla

Kolkata, April 15 (IANS) Indian Premier League (IPL) chairman Rajeev Shukla Sunday expressed satisfaction with the Eden Gardens pitch, saying there has been no complaint from any of the sides which have played on the hallowed ground in the tournament so far.

All matches at the Eden have been low scoring with the batsmen finding run scoring difficult on the slow and dry track.

"I am satisfied with the pitch here. We have not received any official complaint from any of the sides which have played on this ground," Shukla said at the Eden Gardens, while watching the IPL game between Kolkata Knight Riders and Kings XI Punjab.

He said as per the Board of Control for Cricket (BCCI) in India guidelines, the curator has the freedom in preparing wickets of their choice.

"The BCCI can step in only if there is a complaint. And so far there has been none," he said.

Shukla also refused to attach any importance to the sequence of low scores on the ground. "Just because it is a T20 game, that does not mean that all matches have to be high scoring".

The IPL boss did not agree that the tournament has lost its charm in Pakistan, as none of the players from that country now feature in any of the sides. "I had been to Karachi sometime back. And I saw tremendous enthusiasm about the IPL''.
