Bhopal, March 22 (IANS) A man from the Madhya Pradesh capital has written to Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan seeking Rs.1.5 lakh from his discretionary fund so that he can pay bribe allegedly demanded by some government officials. Prakash Singh Yadav owns two Tata Magic transport vehicles and needs government permission to run them for commercial purposes. But when he applied for the permit from the transport department, he was asked to pay Rs.1.5 lakh as bribe before regional transport officer Pramod Nagvanshi issued him the permission. "When the officer was adamant on his demand, I complained to the chief secretary. He ordered (the department) to issue the permit and also ordered an inquiry into the matter," Yadav told reporters here. But, he alleged, the officials continued to threaten him "regularly to pay the amount". "I could not operate my vehicles. So finally, I wrote to the chief minister and sought help from him so that I can give them (the money)," he added. The regional transport officer could not be contacted for comment.
