Manila, Dec 6 (IANS) Unidentified gunmen abducted a 53-year-old Australian national in the Philippines Monday night, an official said. The incident took place in Ipil town of Zamboanga Sibugay province, around 780 km from Manila, Xinhua reported. Warren Roduel, who stayed at the Green Meadows subdivision in Ipil, was abducted by six unidentified armed men around 6 p.m. He was forcibly dragged out from inside his house at gunpoint and taken to an unknown place, said Randolf Cabangbang, spokesman of the police force's Western Mindanao Command. Filipino companions of the victim reported the case to police. All units of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) and the Philippine National Police (PNP) in the area have been alerted to conduct operations to prevent the suspects from escaping, he said. No group has claimed responsibility for the abduction.
