Greater Noida, Feb 12 (IANS) Raymond Limited chairman Gautam Singhania is aiming to race in Europe's Ferrari Challenge. As part of preparations for the same, he practised Tuesday driving several laps around the Buddh International Circuit (BIC) here in a customised Ferrari 458 Italia, with a best lap of one minute and 59 seconds. This time also becomes the fastest non-open wheel drive timing at the BIC. Singhania, in Team GHS, won Malta's 2012 European Allstars Drifting Championship in the amateur category, being the only Asian to participate in the event. The Ferrari Challenge is a single-marque motorsport championship that was created in 1993 for owners of the 348 Berlinetta, who wanted to become involved in racing. It now encompasses three official championships in the United States, Asia-Pacific and Europe. Competitors from each series are brought together at the annual World Finals event. Since 2007, the Ferrari Challenge exclusively used the Ferrari F430 model. But in 2010 the 458 Challenge was revealed ready for the 2011 season.
