Srinagar, Feb 10 (IANS) Nine people were injured, two of them critically, in clashes between protestors and security forces Sunday, while one person was drowned in another incident, as uninterrupted curfew continued for the second day in the Kashmir valley. Five people were injured in a violent clash between the security forces and protestors in Watergam (Rafiabad) village of Baramulla district of Jammu and Kashmir. Doctors in Baramulla hospital referred two of the critically injured people for specialized treatment to Srinagar city. Doctors at Baramulla hospital said the condition of one of the two referred people was "very critical". Residents in Watergam village said the security forces had fired at protestors. Protestors also defied curfew restrictions in Khanpora locality of Baramulla town, Palhalan village on Srinagar-Muzaffarabad highway and some other places. A police officer said four policemen were injured while controlling mob violence during the day. One of the injured police sustained critical injuries, according to the officer. The authorities did not allow any relaxation in the curfew during the day as the Valley remained tense, a day after the execution of Parliament attack convict Afzal Guru in Delhi. There has been no official word so far whether the curfew would be relaxed Monday. In another incident, a man drowned in the Jhelum in Ganderbal district. A police statement issued here in the evening said: "Today a boat which was ferrying people from Batwina to Wangipora, Sumbal in the Jhelum river capsized. Six persons in the boat fell in the water. Five persons were rescued. However, Tariq Ahmad Bhat, son of Muhammad Maqbool Bhat, a resident of Batwina, was drowned. The body was fished out and handed over to his relatives for last rites." Residents in Batwina village, however, said Bhat was being chased by the security forces during protests in the area when he jumped into the river.
