Business deals worth Rs.250 crore at 'Stonemart 2013'








Jaipur, Feb 3 (IANS) Business deals worth over Rs.250 crore were done at the seventh edition of Stonemart 2013 exhibition that ended Sunday, the organisers said.

According to the Rajasthan State Industrial Development and Investment Corporation (RIICO), the four-day event witnessed business enquiries worth over Rs.1,200 crore, in addition to the actual business deals of Rs.250 crore.

"The response has been extremely good, not just in the amount of business generated but also the linkages which have been formed here," Sunil Arora, additional chief secretary (industries) and chairman, Rajasthan State Industrial Development and Investment Corporation (RIICO), said at the valedictory function of the event.

Arora said 386 exhibitors participated at the event, of which 115 were from overseas.

"So many advancements have been made in technology and the way it is being applied with ingenuity on the ground, is a tribute to the entrepreneurship of those who involved in the sector," he said.

Machinery and tool makers, processors and miners did brisk business with reports of spot sales coming in from some Turkish marble sellers, RIICO said in a statement.

R.K. Gupta, chief executive officer, Centre for Development of Stones announced that the next edition of India Stonemart would be held from Jan 29 to Feb 1, 2015.

Aparna Sahay, financial advisor, RIICO and member of the awards jury, announced the winners in different categories of display of products. Atlas Copco India Limited was awarded the Shri Satya Priya Gupta Memorial award for best overall display.
