Thanks a lot SS & HKT ...

@HKT , looking for scenic and been to NYC.

@SS , having been to both which of these would you recommend more from a kids comfort as well as warmer temperature perspective..... 4 days should allow us to make it to the Smokeys and enjoy the drive leading to / from / through it ....

Never stayed @ a cottage -- I hope there would be hotels around with in 50-100 kms .... kya kare raat ko need acchee chaiiyee .. driver ko

Looked up at the map and here's what the tentative plan looks like ...

Toronto to Gatlinburg .. 12.5 hours straight driving distance (add extra for breaks and stops)

Start Friday , cross the border and reach Lexington KY , 7 hours ahead of border ...Retire for the night.

Saturday , start @ 9 -10 am and reach Gatlinburg TN around 2 pm .. head straight for the Smokeys ..... return back to Gatlinburg and retire for the night after a stroll on the strip.

Sunday ~ Head back into the mountains after doing a couple of trolley rides / others ... towards the evening head towards Lexington KY and retire there for the night.

Monday ~ Drive to Toronto (9 hours + 2-3) ..Reach Toronto by 10 pm...

Booked Choice Hotels Quality Inn through the 3 nights ... 1 free night after 2 nights promotion.

Any suggestions ?? Have shared this for any prospective readers also may make use of it ..Will update after the trip as well .... (though the trip is still tentative)

If you're starting on Friday, that won't give you much time in the Smokeys, unless if you meant start Thursday.

Hmmm ... Let me try and look @ the possibility of starting Thursday evening and reach Detroit by night , retiring there and then reaching Gatlinburg Friday night , being able to spend all day Saturday in the Smokeys ...
