He could have retired after the team came back. No need to announce in the midst of the series, though India has lost it. This IMO is an embarrassment to the country.

Per reports, the team is split into Kohli and Dhoni camps, majority, 10+ of the players supporting Kohli. Whatever the reasons are, Dhoni should have stepped down after the last test. I guess he will continue to play in one dayers, T20 and IPL.

Pretty much looks like an internal spat and group'ism. World Cup is around the corner, and this.

Dhoni could have stayed back only for test matches and retired from ODI and T20 formats. Test cricket is more of cricket and less of money might be the reason. The same can be said for the pathetic display and downfall of Indian cricket. Not lack of talent, but indifference and irresponsible bordering on the criminal. May be harsh, but one look at the fall of wickets of the last 5 or even 7 during this series (as sample) is enough proof.

Kholi appears to be more virulent form of today's Indian cricketer. For his press conference stating "I like very few Aussies", he should have been sacked and sent home.

Even when the cricketers have been selected to represent the country they are 24x7 "on field" and ambassadors for the country. We cannot understand, for our Indian cricketers, this "on field" we will be criminal and "off field" we will be gentlemen dichotomy. For Aussies it may be different. But better not to lose our own originality.
